AN ACT to incorporate the Sri Lanka Islamic Centre.

[Date of Commencement: 25th January, 1991]

1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Sri Lanka Islamic Centre Incorporation) Act.

2. Incorporation of the Sri Lanka Islamic Centre.

From and after the date of commencement of this Act, the persons named in the Schedule (who are presently members of the Sri Lanka Islamic Centre) and such and so many members as shall after that date be admitted as members of the body corporate hereby constituted, shall be and become a body corporate with perpetual succession under the name and style of "The Sri Lanka Islamic Centre” (hereinafter referred to as "the Corporation”) and by that name, may sue and be sued in all courts, with full power and authority to have and use a common seal and to alter the same at its discretion.

3. General objects of the Corporation.

The general objects for which the Corporation is hereby constituted are declared to be—

(a) to promote the study and the acquisition of knowledge of Islam, its institutions, observances and practices;
