Ed Note - Queen v. A. D. Hemapala, Appeal No. 230 of 1960 S. C. 41-M. C. Horana, 27640 records that this act had come into operation on 20th August 1954. Sri Lanka Constitution 1972 in its Article 12, stipulates that all laws, written and unwritten, in force immediately before the commencement of the Constitution, except such as are specified in Schedule ‘A, continued in force. Schedule A had specified Sections 1-10, 13A and Sections 14 and 15 of the Royal Executive Powers and Seals Act. However, Sri Lanka Statues 1956-2006 continue to specify that this Act was not in operation on 30th June, 1956.

AN ACT to make provision in regard to the exercise of the executive powers of the sovereign of Ceylon, and to provide for the making and use of a royal seal of Ceylon, a royal signet of Ceylon, and a public seal of Ceylon.
